Current action: 5th March 2025 letter writing campaign to the Guardian in response to today's ‘A moment that changed me’ by Sam Dick. The article reflects on the impact of homophobia in the late twentieth century, and the power of the publication of a supportive letter sent to the Guardian by the author’s father. Unfortunately, the author fails to connect his experience with the current level of transphobia that sweeps our nation and blights so many trans lives. An omission that must be convenient to the Guardian whose journalism help contribute to rising levels of transphobia in our society.

I have drafted a letter template for any parent of a trans or non-binary person to edit and send in response to this article. You can download it here and send to the editor of the Guardian guardian.letters@theguardian.com
